A picture speaks thousand words. We have a picture today with two adults in the background with a child hoping for a miracle. When a mother and father fight, they tear apart the la la land of a child. The very same child who simply wants to play with their very first friends of their life (i.e. Parents) but the parents are too busy in settling their score with each other. This was no exception whereby a mother and father were fighting amongst themselves on issues which were so trivial. I suggested to the Mother who visited me for legal advice, I reminded her that I have seen worst and she should rethink and allow a candid conversation to revive the relation. The mother humbly tried but the father simply wanted to be maintain his arrogance. The mother was kicked out of the house at the midnight ending in a fight with the police summoned. The father had the pride of the house rental being signed on his name and power of money. The Mother had to be taken to a shelter. Hong Kong has NGOs whereby they provide shelters to women for their safety in such situations.

The Mother and I had a meeting whereby we discussed how the situation had turned into an ugly mess. The Mother was furious that the Father will take away the child ("a daughter") to Pakistan and she will have no control over her on nor she might see her again. I issued Divorce Petition togather with Wadrship Application with stop-order to prevent the Father from taking away the girl out of Hong Kong. An urgent hearing was fixed whereby the court granted the application for Wardship in favour of the Mother. As the Mother was still in the shelter, the address of the shelter was kept confidential. The Mother was simply dying to meet her Child and finally the Court ordered the Father to arrange the meeting with the Child. It was heart warming to see the relief on her face whereby she had certainty that her Child will not be take away from her.

The Father was flabagsted with how the Mother could move so quick with the legal application and he was definitely out of his arrogance with a shock that the women are not weak. The Father had a quick thought on the fact that he will soon lose not only the Mother of his child but also the child. I could see the anger in his eyes whilst looking at me but at the same time; he knew that the situation is not one-sided now. The Father was furious and he simply wanted to get back his Wife back in his life. My advice was simple to the Mother that I am not going to decide for her life and she should simply follow what her heart says on this matter. I was ready to assist her irrespective of whatever her decision. She went with her heart and the legal proceedings acted as a deterant for her husband to promise that he will respect his the Mother of his Child. An important factor to consider is that divorce in itself is not a solution always and it can also act as a slap on the wrist to protect one's relationship for themselves and the Child. Please do not steal a Child's basic right to be happy which was only possible with the ugly blessing from this incomplete divorce proceedings.
